I have a Star Thunderbird (not a Jermbird) that is basically a Firebird. The most overstable Thunderbirds you can find off the shelf are pretty much equivalent (not exact, but close) to the least overstable Firebirds you can find of the shelf (which as of this year is likely the 2018 Sexton Firebird). When you get in to the extreme ranges of both molds they start to overlap. You're right - they are different discs, Firebirds skip more and fade more across, but that's why it's a comparison :) It's completely logical and normal to compare the two. The Thunderbird fills the super beat up Firebird slot of the old days. Then the Thunderbird came, and many took their PDs out. It made it in to the bag of many, and pretty much filled that slot that was really hard to fill. It took a while to get to that point, and losing one blew. Not crazy hard like a fresh Firebird, just consistent fade. That throw flat and hard, and it will fade at the end everytime, type of disc. A substantial portion of each sale will benefit Nate Sexton and his touring efforts. Fantastic backhand and perfect for forehand players. Softer and straighter than your normal Firebird.
